Former Tema Youth coach Edward Nii Odoom confirms Hearts of Oak deputy coaching role

Edward Nii Odoom has confirmed that he will deputize Henry Wellington at Hearts of Oak ahead of the upcoming 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season.

Frank Nuttal who is the head coach of the team has been suspended for unsporting and unethical behaviours which contradicted the club's code of conduct according to the statement released by the club last week.

Multiple media reports indicate that the former Zamalek trainer has been accused of advising players not to extend their contract with the promise of getting them a new club abroad after appearing before the three-man committee instituted to investigate the issue.

However, widespread reports on Tuesday suggest that deputy trainer, Henry Wellington has been asked to take up the reins of the club in the coming campaign, where he will be ably assisted by Edward Odoom, who left Tema Youth after leading the club to relegation last season.

During an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the veteran coach confirmed he's been handed the assistant coaching role ahead of the season.

"Yes, I will be working with Henry Wellington as his assistant," Odoom said.

"Previously, I was meant to coach Auroras but the gap left after the white coach's [Frank Nuttal] issue necessitated this appointment according to management. I was at training today to be introduced to the playing body.
