Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Francis Oti Akenteng says the Black Starlets group at the FIFA under-17 world in India later this year is not an easy one.

The Black Starlets were drawn in group A together with hosts India, CONCACAF side the United States of America and South American powerhouse Colombia.

Despite, Ghana being two times champions and the favourite in the group, Oti Akenteng insists the team must be cautious because there are no minnows anymore in football.

“People are thinking it’s a soft group that has been the observation because they believe that India is not a footballing nation. That is on paper, you see football is growing and you cannot do that. Every country is ready,” he said.

“Like we say, there are no minnows in football anymore. We just have to be care and treat all teams equally. Remember, India are host and if they are hosting they might have done a lot of work and they want to build a foundation for the future and so it is not going to be easy at all.”

Ghana have started preparations ahead of the mundial in October with Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin, having an assembled he squad for practice in Prampram.

The Black Starlets are returning to the world stage for the first time in a decade after placing second at the Africa Junior Championship in Gabon.
