Ghana Black Maidens cash-strapped in Jordan; can’t afford sanitary pads

Chairman of the management committee of the Black maidens Augustine Asante has poured out the awkward situation his team finds itself in far away in Jordan.

The Black maidens, who are currently participating in the FIFA U-17 women’s world cup in Jordan, lost their opening group game to defending champions Japan by 5 goals to 0 and Mr Asante believes various factors have led to their abysmal performance including lack of cash incentives.

“The girls haven’t received any of their allowances and even per diem’s for the ladies are even a problem, they don’t have money to buy airtime to communicate with their parents, let alone buy sanitary napkins.” “We have written to the ministry on countless occasions yet to no avail, we were told to come to Jordan and expect them [money] later but there hasn’t being any sign of them yet.” He told Spice FM.

The Maidens are scheduled to play the USA on Tuesday at the Prince Mohammed stadium at exactly 13:00 GMT with nothing but a win on their minds to save their dream of progressing to the next stage of the tournament.
