Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee of the Africa Women Championship to be hosted in Ghana in November, Freda Prempeh has indicated the country's preparedness to stage a successful tournament.

Ghana will host the major competition for the first team since hosting the Africa Cup of nations in 2008.

Meanwhile, there has been uncertainty surrounding the hosting of the competition following the slow pace at which activities planned towards the tournament is moving.

There were reports, the CAF officials who came around to inspect facilities for the staging of the tournament were unhappy with what they saw.

However, MP for Tano North and Chairperson of the Local Organizing committee, Madam Freda Prempeh has watered down fears by insisting the country is ready.

“I can boldly say that we are ready to host this year’s Africa Women Cup of Nations Tournament in Ghana looking at the advanced preparations by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) towards the launch of the tournament in February.”

‘”The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already been in Ghana for the first inspection of our stadia, and the feedback was positive,” Hon. Mrs. Freda Akosua Prempeh said this when speaking in an interview on sports diary on Oman FM in Accra.

She also added, Ghana can host and win the competition if they get adequate support from corporate bodies.

“The biggest challenge for women’s football in Ghana is sponsorship. If our girls are well resourced and supported like our men, they will win trophies for the country,” she noted.
