Published on: 08 May 2017

Kumasi Asante Kotoko and their regional neighbours, Ashantigold continued their poor run in the Ghana Premier League in the latest round of matches over the weekend.

The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 2:0 to Great Olympics in Accra courtesy goals by Paul Fiatsi and NASCO Man of the Match Francis Atsu, while Ashantigold were thrashed 4:1 by Ebusua Dwarfs in Cape Coast.

Olympics' impressive win over Kotoko was Kotoko's seventh game in a row which they have failed to win. Kotoko's last win was against WAFA on week 7, and their winless run has sunk them from the top to mid-table.

In Cape Coast, Dwarfs were in a remarkable form and they easily dismissed Ashantigold 4:1 to leave the former champions firmly rooted at the bottom of the table.

Raphael Mensah opened the scoring for Ashantigold but Prince Owusu equalised and Raphael Mensah restored Dwarfs' to start the rout. Joseph Esso and Solomon Gyasi added two more goals to seal the emphatic win.

In Dansoman, Liberty Professionals beat Tema Youth 2:1 with a brace by NASCO man of the match Samuel Sarfo, before Ekow Benson pulled one back for the visitors.

Defending champions Wa All Stars were stunned at home by Bechem United, who defeated them by a goal to none. Ahmed Toure was the hero of the afternoon, as he scored the only goal of the match, and also scooped the NASCO man of the match.

Inter Allies were on the rampage as they thrashed visiting Bolga All Stars 4:0 at the El Wak Stadium in Accra. Prince Baffoe, Samuel Konney and Ismael Ntefuni got the goals for Inter Allies, but it was Isaac Twum who was adjudged the NASCO man of the match.

In Dormaa Ahenkro, Aduana beat Berekum Chelsea 1:0 to close the gap on WAFA, who play Hearts of Oak on goal difference. Tanko Mohammed scor d the only goal of the match for Aduana to ensure that they move level on points with WAFA before their match with Hearts on Monday in Accra.

Medema FC will also host Elmina Sharks in Tarkwa on Monday after their match was rained off on Sunday.
