The national under-17 team, the Black Starlets of Ghana have arrived in the United Arab Emirates to continue with preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup in India Next month.

The team left Accra on Wednesday evening following months of training at the Ghanaman soccer center of excellence in Prampram, where Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin sent the lads through intensive physical work and drills.

The Black Starlets had initially planned to tour in Europe, specifically Denmark and Spain but that was cancelled citing reasons as weather acclimatization.

Ghana are returning to the World stage after a ten year hibernation and have been paired in group A with host India, Colombia and the United States of America.

Meanwhile, the Black Starlets only grabbed a ticket for the competition after placing second at the Africa Junior Championship held in Gabon earlier this year, losing to Mali 1-0 in the final.

Two times champions Ghana are favourites for the FIFA under-17 with the absence of defending champions Nigeria.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and his charges know how important the competition is for the country, as players from the youth national teams graduate to form the core of the national team.

The Black Starlets last won the competition in 1995.
