Captain of the national under-17 team, the Black Starlets, Eric Ayiah insists the United States will be tough customers at the World Cup in India.

The Black Starlets were drawn in Group A with host India, South Americans Colombia and North American giants the United States.

Ghana will renew her rivalry with the United States in the second game of the group. The under-17 team will face the United States following a recent friendly between the senior national team the Black Stars and the Yankees where Ghana lost 2-1.

The two nations have been paired on numerous occasions at the World cup across all levels.

Captain Eric Ayiah is excited about the fixture but is weary by the threats posed by the Americans.

“We know the countries in our group but we don’t know anything about the teams so it’s going to be difficult but we are going to prepare very well to face them," Ayiah to Starr FM

“USA may be our biggest enemy to us in the group because they have excelled well in football but we will work harder to overcome them.”

USA have qualified for 15 editions and their best finish came in the 1999 edition where they finished fourth in FIFA U-17 World Cup. Colombia have participated in five editions and their best result was a fourth-placed finish in 2009.

Ghana have been to eight previous editions of FIFA U-17 World Cup and have been champions in 1991 and 1995.
