Gianluca Zambrotta: Juve Could Sell Pogba and Buy 'Other Champions' With the Money

Published on: 13 July 2016

Juventus could sell star man Paul Pogba and still improve significantly, according to former player Gianluca Zambrotta.

Pogba's future has been the subject of fierce press speculation, with Manchester United and Real Madrid both being heavily linked with the Frenchinternational.

And nowZambrotta, 39,retired as a player and nowmanaging Indian outfit Delhi Dynamos, believes thatthe Italian club are in a similar position to when they sold Zinedine Zidane to Real Madrid back in 2001, where they used the funds to recruit world class talent like Gianluigi Buffon, Lillian Thuram and Pavel Nedved.

'I remember when I was playing with Juventus and Zinedine Zidane was there', Zambrotta toldGoal.com

'They sold him to Real Madrid for a record fee and with this money they bought Buffon, Thuram and Nedved.

'So, even if Juventus have to sell Pogba, they could buy other champions.'

After Zidane left Juventus for Madrid, 'The Old Lady' won back-to-back Serie A championships as well as reaching the 2003 Champions League final.

Manchester United have been very active during the transfer window, recruiting striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, attacking midfielderHenrikh Mkhitaryan and central defender Eric Bailly, as new manager Jose Mourinho looks to bring the Red Devils back to the top of the Premier League after three disappointing campaigns since Sir Alex Ferguson's departure from the Old Trafford club.

United could still face stiff competition from Real Madrid - despite seemingly ruling themselves out of contention to signPogba-as their latest Galactico for the upcoming season. Pogba featured in France's run to the Euro 2016 final, where they lost 1-0 in extra-time to Portugal.
