Former Arsenal captain Gilberto Silva fears uncertainty over Arsene Wenger's future has hurt their transfer planning.

Gilberto, who won the league and two FA Cups under Wenger, does not expect any improvement to the squad to happen until Wenger's future is resolved.

"They have to do something, they can't wait until they make the decison [on Wenger]," he told BBC 5 live.

"Everyone is already prepared, look at Manchester City [who signed Bernardo Silva].

"If Wenger stays, let's say for another two years, he has to change something; bring someone to work closely with him, bring players who can cope with the pressure and make Arsenal what they deserve."
