GN Bank boss reveals what led to their decision to end relationship with GFA

The Chief Executive Officer of GN Bank Issah Adams has confirmed that his outfit will not renew their contract as the headline sponsor of the Ghana Division One League (DOL).

The Bank's three-year sponsorship deal ended this season and many are of the view that owner of the bank, Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom’s recent criticism of the Ghana Football Association(GFA) led to their decision not to renew their relationship.

But Mr. Adams disagrees, he insists their strategy as a bank has changed.

"We signed a contract with them to sponsor the league for three years. We spent GHC 2,083.500 on the league and that ended the relationship at that point," Adams said.

"No, we don't intend [considering a renewal]. It's a question of a change in strategy. As a bank or organization, our board says we should support other areas."

"It doesn't mean that we must continue to support only football There are other areas that we can support so it's an issue of a change in strategy."
