Mr Kojo Effangon was last Saturday elected as the new Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Chapters Committee (GARCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak at the group’s congress held at the De-Youngsters International School at Kokomlemle in Accra.

Mr Effangon, famously known in football circles as Shamo, beat the incumbent Mr Mohammed Saddick Adjei, for the position after polling 71 votes against 41 votes by his rival. He will be responsible for running the affairs of the club’s supporters body in the region for the next four years.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Effangon urged the supporters of the club to throw their weight behind the new executives as they sought to introduce new initiatives to make the club great.

“I am grateful for the confidence reposed in me and I promise that I and the executives will hit the road running with projects that will make our club great. In Accra Hearts of Oak, we are a family so let’s put the past behind us and move on,” he said.

The First Vice Chairman position was won by Ato Kwamina Amoah (77 votes) by defeating incumbent, Alhaji Emmanuel Abdul-Karim Kwashie, who could only manage 33 votes.

Contestants for the other positions stood unopposed with Christian Laryea Odamtten re-elected as Second Vice Chairman, Albert Nii Bortey Kotey as General Secretary and Patience Ziem as Deputy Secretary.

Nana Kwesi Ansong, Ali Muntari and Osman Amin Imoro were elected to the positions of Organiser, First Deputy Organiser and Second Deputy Organiser, respectively.

Others are Kassim Osman (PRO), Abrah Prince Johnson (Deputy PRO), Awudu Ibrahim (Financial Secretary) Jane Okyere (Treasurer) Sophia Nana Adjoa Mimi Cole (Women’s Organiser).

Each of the 41 registered Chapters in the Greater Accra Region presented three delegates who participated in the democratic process.

The new executives were sworn in by the National Chapters Committee (NCC) Chairman, Barima Atuahene, who charged them to work hard to ensure unity on the supporters’ front.
