Accra Hearts of Oak bounced back to winning ways after a winless run of three matches with a 2-0 defeat of Berekum Chelsea on Wednesday in the Ghana Premier League.
Both goals were scored by inspirational skipper Thomas Abbey who produced an all-action display to settle the match.
He scored the first goal in the 41st minute when he was assisted by Winful Cobbinah.
The visitors came into the game strongly after conceding the opening as they threatened to restore parity but the defence of the Phobians stood the test.
Hearts came back from recess very determined to seal the victory as they attacked Chelsea with the ball but wasted the chances that came their way, with talisman Wilfred Cobbinah the chief culprit.
Abbey then scored his 10th goal of the campaign in the 46th minute when he evaded Chelsea defenders to power home the Phobians second of the afternoon.
The win lifts Hearts back into 3rd position with 36 points, one ahead of their sworn rivals Asante Kotoko ahead of their much-anticipated clash on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
