Accra Hearts of Oak board member Thomas Esso has lauded Asante Kotoko for winning this year’s President Cup from his team.

Kotoko defeated Hearts 3-2 on penalties after it ended goalless in regulation time at the Accra Stadium on Friday.

Hearts were hoping to revenge their 1-0 defeat to Kotoko in the premier league at the same venue but missed chances denied the Phobians a win.

This board member Thomas Esso who watched the game believes they can pick the positives going forward after congratulating the Porcupine Wariors for winning.

“On the whole it was a very good and beautiful game, both teams tried to play football, possession and fight for the ball in the midfield was important, at the end of the day we prevailed and did well but Kotoko won on penalties and I would like to congratulate them,” he said

“If there was any team to score in 90 minutes then it was Accra Hearts of Oak because we created lots of goal scoring opportunities, two clear chances we should have scored.

“I believe we can build on the positives and look ahead especially in the league to see how best we can do, I entreat on the fans to stay calm and keep supporting the new coach and the team and I know all will be well.”
