Hearts Captain Thomas Abbey satisfied with top four finish in the Ghana Premier League

Accra Hearts of Oak Captain Thomas Abbey insists the club is satisfied with the top four finish, despite missing out on the ultimate.

The Phobians finished third in the Ghana Premier League following a difficult season, which saw the Rainbow club suffering from bad refereeing decisions.

“We are okay with the position we placed because we fourth well to win the league but we couldn’t,” he said on Happy FM. “We had chances to win the league but we were confronted with a lot of obstacles but we are okay with the third place finish,” he added.

Thomas Abbey explained their season was derailed by the abysmal performances of referees.

“Sometimes referees have denied us from winning games which could have seen us win the league but we can we do, we will take it like that.”

The Phobians suffered some poor refereeing decisions especially in the cracker against Aduana Stars, where referee Prince Amoah waved on penalty calls in the final minutes of the epic clash in Accra.

Despite, the obstacles they endured, according their captain. The midfielder enjoyed a good season scoring 13 times and was part of the triumphant WAFU team.

Accra Hearts of Oak will play Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday in the final of the MTN FA Cup.
