Alfred Schreuder had been working alongside Julian Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim.
Hoffenheim assistant coach Alfred Schreuder is leaving the Bundesliga club to take up a similar role with Ajax.
The 45-year-old Dutchman, who has been assistant at Hoffenheim since October 2015, will link up with new Ajax boss Erik ten Hag in Amsterdam.
Hoffenheim said in a statement on their official website that former Feyenoord and NAC Breda midfielder Schreuder, who spent his entire playing career in Holland, asked for his contract to be terminated.
"Only a few days ago, the 45-year-old Dutchman requested the termination of his contract, which was set to last until 30th June 2019," the statement read.
"In their search for a new coaching team, Amsterdam-based club Ajax had Schreuder at the top of their list. Schreuder will join the club and 48-year-old head coach Erik ten Hag with immediate effect."
Schreuder added: "It is with a heavy heart that I leave TSG. I am very grateful for all the fantastic experiences I was able to gather here at one of the best teams in the Bundesliga."
Ajax said on their website that Schreuder would soon sign a two-and-a-half year contract -- until June 30, 2020 -- to become Ten Hag's assistant.
