Hollywood icon Mel Gibson is being linked to a takeover of Crystal Palace.

The Times reports Gibson's producer pal Bruce Davey met Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish to discuss his interest in owning a stake in the team who are in the Premier League drop zone, according to reports.

Davey hasn't yet made a formal offer but the communication channel has been left open.

Davey partnered with Gibson in the late Eighties to become co-owners of Icon Productions, they went on to produce some of the Hollywood star's biggest films, including Braveheart and The Passion of Christ.

Palace have had the worst start to the season in Premier League history, though defeated champions Chelsea last weekend.
