I’ll Keep Working Hard to secure a permanent spot at Leicester City: Daniel Amartey

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey after helping Leicester City to their first win of the 2016/17 Premier League season says he will continue to work hard for his side.

The 21-year-old put in an all-action display against Swansea City on Saturday at King Power Stadium in what was his first start of the new campaign.

His versatility will be of great value to the Foxes, having played in both defence and midfield since joining from FC Copenhagen in January.

“It’s a good win for our team and I’m very happy to win this game. I enjoyed it but I have to keep on working more and more to help the team,” he told LCFC TV

“I enjoy playing everywhere because I have to be ready. I can play other positions, so when I get the opportunity, I have to do my best.

“When we came into the dressing room, we said we have to win this game before we go with our international teams and we did.”

The Foxes’ win over Swansea came courtesy of goals from Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan – two players that Amartey says are important to his side’s style of play.

He added: “That’s our strength – the counter attack – and we have to focus on playing one-twos. [Jamie] Vardy has speed, so we have to give the ball to him.

“Wes [Morgan] is strong and he got our second goal. It was a very good goal. Morgan is very good when he’s in the dressing room. He talks to the guys and everybody listens to him because he’s the captain.”
