Isco Set to Remain Part of Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid Plans Next Season

Published on: 26 June 2016

Real Madrid play-maker Isco is set to remain at the Bernabeu next season as Zinedine Zidane reportedly sees the 24-year-old as part of his plans. He has been heavily linked with both Juventus and Manchester City in recent months.

According to AS, Zidane is keen to keep Isco despite rumours in March and April that he would be made available for sale.

But having been criticised for a questionable attitude, things seemed to change for Isco in the final weeks of the domestic season. That wasn't enough to earn him a place in Spain's Euro 2016 squad, although it does appear to have saved his Real career.

It may also further speak to the power and influence that Zidane has at the Bernabeu with regard to comings and goings, especially after his insistence that Keylor Navas would be his number one goalkeeper was a key reason why Los Blancos did not pursue David de Gea again.

This is very much Zidane's team. He won the Champions League within months of taking over and that obviously counts for something.

As far as the future of Alvaro Morata is concerned, there are a few more unknowns. The striker will return to the Bernabeu following Euro 2016 after the club exercised a €30m buy-back clause, although it is unclear as to whether he will stay or be sold on for profit to the highest bidder.

The player himself is just looking to keep his head down and do whatever he needs to.

"I've got nothing to prove. I'm not a Castilla (B team) player anymore. Madrid will decide if I am able or not. If not, I'll have to take another decision," the 23-year-old is quoted as saying by AS.

"All I want is to be just another member of the squad and fight for a place in the side. My only intention is to be happy and be in a place where I feel wanted.

"I'm a Real Madrid player and that's all I can say. I'd love to continue at Real Madrid, but I want to feel like I am important and battle to win a place."
