I\'ve matured - Chelsea defender Luiz

Published on: 08 May 2017

Chelsea defender David Luiz believes he has matured since he left Stamford Bridge in 2014.

The Brazilian spent three successful seasons in London before leaving for French giants Paris Saint Germain in a €49.5million deal.

Now at the age of 30, Luiz believes his experiences have helped shape the footballer he has become. In his return season for the Blues, Luiz has excelled under the tutelage and tactics of Antonio Conte. His success has culminated in his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year.

When asked if he had matured since his last spell in the Premier League, Luiz responded: "You have to, and also as a person. I think the experience gives you many things, and yes, as a person and a footballer, you have to if you want to learn. If you are open every day.

"I read more of the game now, I can understand more of the game, it is a different pressure now with the big games. Many, many things. I think if you want to improve, you need to think you are a better player than you were.

"I've worked with six, seven, eight coaches, they have improved my game, different leagues and different countries."
