The defender pointed out, the Champions League winning Coach was a "father" in the dressing room and ruled with a tender heart.

Dan Quaye was part of the victorious Accra Hearts of Oak team that conquered Africa in 2000 and has admonished the role played by the late Coach.

"Jones played a big part in my career," he told Happy FM. "May his soul rest in peace," he said as he paid respect to the former Coach.

"Jones was like a father. If you had a problem and you told him, he gave you the best advice," he added.

"I remember before our game against Esperance, it was Osei Kuffour birthday, we went to a spot in Osu and we trained and Monday and we're expected to leave on Tuesday. So we met one of the boss and he was worried about where we were ahead of that important game. He called Harry and Harry called Jacob Nettey before we left," he reminisced.

"Jones gave us some freedom and it help. He did not rule with iron fist," he concluded.

Jones Attuquayefio died in 2015 after battling with illness.
