Jordan Ayew reveals it was a childhood dream to play in England

Ghana and Swansea City forward Jordan Ayew has revealed that it was a childhood dream to play football in England.

Jordan begun his professional career in France with Ligue one outfit Marseille before moving on to Sochaux on a loan deal until the end of the 2013–14 season.

His consistent playing time was activated when he joined French side Lorient on a four-year contract, triggering his dream of playing in England.

After one successful year at Lorient, Ayew signed for Aston Villa in a deal worth a reported £8.5 million in the summer of 2015. Then Villa boss Tim Sherwood described the new man as being “perfect for the Premier League”. For Ayew, who is as happy playing out wide or as a No. 10 as he is leading the line, the move meant he had fulfilled a childhood ambition. “It was a dream to play in England,” he told Swansea City's official website. “I have always watched the Premier League. When I was growing up in Ghana, it was always my dream to play here. “I got the opportunity with Villa. It didn’t work out really well for the team but I think it was okay for me, although you don’t see that when the team go down.

It’s hard to enjoy it. “But I always tried to do my best, that’s the truth, and I hope people could see that. Maybe that’s why I was given the opportunity to come to Swansea.”

Ayew was one of the few bright sparks during a miserable 2015-16 campaign for Villa. He finished the season as the club’s seven-goal top scorer, and was arguably their most consistent performer despite the fact that he was deployed in numerous positions – there was even a stint at the base of midfield – in a season where Villa had no fewer than three managers.
