JuventusCEO Giuseppe Marotta spoke to Italian radio station Radio Rai after watching the Serie A champions continue their fine start to the season with a 3-0 win over Empoli on Sunday.

The club have widened the gap above Napoli to four points, keeping their spot at first place.

Speaking on Monday (quotes from Juventus'official website), Marotta said that Juve are aiming to shine in all competitions they are involved in. He also highlighted the team's defence, singling it out as their biggest strength.

Juventus aims to play a leading role in every competition it takes part in," he said. Our trophy cabinet proves that. It's therefore to be expected that we're considered among the favourites for the title again this term.

Our defence remains our main strength this year. Four goals conceded is evidence that we've the best rearguard in Serie A. The foundations of any winning team begin with backline solidity. If you have that then you can build more easily in midfield and up front.

The chairman also praised the efforts of managerMassimiliano Allegri, whom he claims has satisfied all the players' thirst for minutes on the pitch.

Massimiliano Allegri is doing a great job, not only as a coach, but a manager of the group.

"Besides the tactical nous, being able to handle the psychological aspect of the role is crucial, not least to make the whole team understand that, given the sheer number of games both at club and international level, there are opportunities for everyone to play.

"It's important for them to be patient and show commitment throughout.
