Asantekotokosc.com has heard pronouncements that Kotoko have targeted the double following the 3-0 win over Ebusua Dwarfs 3-0 in Kumasi.
Before that win, Kotoko had fallen to Edubiase at home. That was a shocking defeat particularly coming after an impressive 1-0 win over Dreams FC at their backyard. Not many people expected that inconsistent form given the fight the Porcupines put up at Dawu.
That the team could lose another match soon after winning so nicely was an indication that they don’t seem to have fully rediscovered their consistent form hence the need for all to be circumspect. It is important we aspire to be the best. It’s necessary that, we set realistic targets.
In doing that, it’s helpful that, we manage commentaries on these targets. That’s why we are calling for circumspection in what is said before or after matches. At best, Kotoko have been erratic this season. The team hasn’t shown the kind of consistent form the followers like.
It’s the reason we find it hasty for all the big talk in town that, the team is ready to win the double. We think it’s too early in the day for those comments. It’s true that, we are progressing in the FA Cup; it’s also correct that, we are steadily rising on the league table.
The FA Cup and the Premier League are the two major competitions we are taking part for which reason, it’s natural to assume that, the double is a possibility but we warn that, we shouldn’t raise expectations too high. We should encourage the team to work harder and not take things for granted. We sincerely believe it’s too early to be talking big about our performance and ambition.
