Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Ahmed Simba Toure has revealed the Ghanaian giants turned down an opportunity to sign one of the best defenders in the league, Robin Gnagne.

The Bechem United striker says the club refused to sign a young Gnagne insisting he was fat but the defender has moved on to become one of the best in the Ghana Premier League.

Ahmed Toure played for the porcupine warriors in the past where he was a fans favourite. Hetold Kumasi based radio station Metro FM how he linked the Robin to Kotoko only for them to turn him down.

"They told me he is fat and can’t run in the game ,i wanted him to have trial with the under 20 but they rejected him," he told Metro FM.

“I later linked him to Red Bull Academy in Ghana before signing for Accra Hearts of Oak in 2011,” he added.

Robin Gnagne joined Red Bulls before moving to Accra Hearts of Oak where he has now become a house hold name.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Toure is with Bechem United where he is joint top scorer with Thomas Abbey of Accra Hearts of Oak, with 12 goals.
