Ghana defender Lalas Abubakar was named in the Major League Soccer team of the week after an impressive opening day performance.
The 23 year old paired with compatriot Jonathan Mensah in the heart of Columbus Crew's defence as they defeated Champions Toronto FC 2-0 in Canada.
Playing the entire match, Abubakar finished with four interceptions, six clearances, two tackles and 35 successful passes.
He is joined in the team of the week by teammates Milton Valenzuela and Federico Higuain. Others on the list are Sporting Kansa City's Medina and for Arsenal defender Philip Senderos who plays for Houston Dynamos.
