General Manager of Elmina Sharks George Wiredu says the Club is being drained financially following the delay in the start of the new Ghana Premier League.
The Ghana Premier League is yet to start, following an injunction placed on the new season by Accra Great Olympics. The Football Association and Great Olympics are in court over a case of the use of an unqualified player by Bechem United.
Meanwhile, with the delay in the start of the new season, clubs that have brought in new players have resorted friendlies to keep their teams in shape.
“The league delay has made us incur extra cost” he stated maintaining that, they have to do more to keep their club running in the midst of the stalemate.
“We will not let that stop us from preparing toward the league season. Football is a whole lot of things. The new players that will need time to [settle] and by the time the league starts, they will be doing well” said George Wiredu in a media interaction.
Elmina Sharks finished 9th last season and have ambitions of finishing fourth in the new campaign.
