Leicester City begin pre-season without Ghana duo Jeffrey Schlupp and Daniel Amartey

English Premier League champions Leicester City started preparations ahead of the new season over the weekend with some key players missing.

Ghana duo Daniel Amartey and Jeffrey Schlupp were absent as 14 players took part in the team’s first exercise.

The two players are among the club’s international players who have been given extended holidays.

Amartey and Schlupp are expected to join the Foxes this week and prepare for a pre-season schedule that includes International Champions Cup clashes with Celtic, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Alongside them was goalkeeper Ben Hamer, defenders Marcin Wasilewski, Ben Chilwell, Danny Simpson, Robert Huth, Liam Moore and Ritchie De Laet, midfielders Demarai Gray, Gökhan Inler, Marc Albrighton and Tom Lawrence and striker Leonardo Ulloa.
