Liverpool Handed Transfer Boost as Napoli Star's Contract Talks Stall

Liverpool are known admirers ofNapoli's star winger Lorenzo Insigne, and the Reds and other European clubsare on high alert as the 25-year-old is yet toreach an agreement over his contract extension with the club, according toCalciomercato.


The Italian international had a relatively slow start to the season, but has played a major role in Napoli's campaign, scoringeight goals and assisting six in his 25 Serie A appearances this season.

Hiscontract runs until 2019, however the two parties are yet to reach an agreement for improved terms despite severalmonths ofnegotiations.


With Jurgen Klopp requiringa versatile option in the final third to compliment the likes of Sadio Mane and PhilippeCoutinho, the Reds could renew their interest forInsigne to add to their fluid attacking style.


However, it is believed that the 25-year-old's priority is to stay at Napoli despite his demand fora substantial pay rise to that ofhisexistingcontract.

His agent will meet with the club'srepresentatives by the end of March as they continue to search for common ground, as well as discussing the rights over the Italian'simage.


Napoli historically retain the image rights of their players, despite making anexception for Gonzalo Higuain, in which Insigne is looking to receivesimilar treatment in his new contract.


However, Napoli will be hoping for their star player's focus to remain purely on the games aheadas they look to cut the gap to only two points when they faceRoma on Saturday, and attempt tooverturn a 3-1 deficit against Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
