Liverpool legend Gerrard: Rashford not a natural striker

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is right to play Marcus Rashford on a flank.

Gerrard reckons Rashford is better on the wing, claiming the England international struggles when he plays as a striker.

“Top talent, I think he's going to have a big say in the summer as well for England," Gerrard said on BT Sport.

“He's got so much pace, he can go either side. When he gets in he can finish as well.

“I do actually prefer him from the left, I know he probably sees himself further down the line in his career playing in these areas, more central. But I just think he's so much of a threat from the left.

“I love the confidence of him taking set-pieces before other big names.

“This is when he's dangerous, when he cuts in and that's a hell of a finish.

“I think it's a lot more difficult to play with your back to goal, up there against two big centre-halves who can be physical and quick.

“I think his strength is one-on-one situations with his pace and being able to go either way.

“And for me I think he is stronger from the left."
