"Magical" Egypt coach Hector Cuper to remain as Pharaohs coach

Egypt manager Hector Cuper confirmed that he’ll remain in his position as the Pharaohs coach during the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Cuper guided the Pharaohs for their first World Cup appearance since 1990 after defeating Congo 2-1 on Sunday night in the penultimate round of the qualifiers.

The Argentine coach, who has previously led the Pharaohs to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final, expressed his happiness with his stint in Egypt.

“I’m very happy in Egypt. I’m happy with the celebrations I saw after qualifying for the World Cup,” Cuper said after the game.

Cuper who is constantly criticised for his defensive playing style believes that the coach’s perspective is different from that of the fans.

“We achieved our target at the end, which is qualifying for the World Cup. I know there is criticism over the playing style, but this is what I chose for the team and it has helped us achieve our dream.

“If someone sees the need to hire a new coach with an offensive style, then no problem, I’ll leave.

“I’ll guide Egypt in the World Cup, unless the Egyptian Football Association decide to appoint [Pep] Guardiola,” he added.
