Manchester United legend Paul Ince has warned the fans from using the oft-repeated cliché of the 'golden generation' for the current youth England sides.
The U20 side recently become the first England side to win the World Cup following the success of 1966. Following the success of the U20 side, the U21 side have now made their way into the semi-finals of the ongoing U-21 Euro Championships.
However, Ince has warned the English fans that they shouldn't get carried away just yet.
"The golden generation was 1966 – they are the ones who won the World Cup," said Ince.
"I don't understand why we keep going on about the golden generation. You are only a golden generation if you win things. I thought we had a golden generation in 1998 and 1996 but we didn't win anything.
"We get a bit carried away but it is great to see the kids doing well and all the stuff at St George's Park seems to be paying off."
