Man Utd legend van der Sar: Where will it end for Leicester hero Schmeichel?

Published on: 15 March 2017

Edwin van der Sar was full of high praise for Kasper Schmeichel in the wake of Leicester City's amazing Champions League triumph.

The Foxes beat Sevilla 2-0 tonight to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Along with scorers Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton, Schmeichel was the hero for Leicester with a crucial penalty save to deny Steven N'Zonzi in the 80th minute as the reigning Premier League champions won 3-2 on aggregate.

Dutch great van der Sar believes the son of fellow former Manchester United legend Peter is becoming so vital to the East Midlands club.

The big man @kschmeichel1 is becoming more and more important for his team! Where will this end for him, and a genuinely nice guy too. #UCL

Schmeichel also saved a penalty from Joaquin Correa in the first leg in Seville, meaning his exploits with the gloves have more or less sent the Foxes through to the final eight of Europe's elite.
