Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has held crunch talks with coach Zinedine Zidane about his role this season.

Modric is concerned over claims he will be phased out as Zidane and president Florentino Perez pushes to renew the first team.

Don Balon says the Croatian veteran doesn't want to leave, but also has no interest in being part of Zidane's planned rotations.

Watching on are some of Europe's biggest clubs, with Juventus, Manchester United and PSG having all asked Real to be kept up to speed on Modric's situation.

During talks with Zidane, Modric was assured he remained valued, though the Frenchman refused to offer him any starting guarantees.
