After expressing doubts in Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld, Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has turned his attention to Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar.
Belgium international Alderweireld had been the Red Devils’ main transfer target as they look to reinforce their defence, but Mourinho has found a deal hard to come by and remains unconvinced, prompting him to target Skriniar.
The Slovakian has enjoyed a stellar maiden season at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after joining from Sampdoria last year, and Inter are determined to ward off any interest, leading them to slap on an €80 million price tag, according to the Independent.
Skriniar, who has also caught the attention of Spanish champions Barcelona, is considered a crucial part of the Nerazzurri’s future plans and are extremely reluctant to sell for anything below this figure.
Manchester United remain keen to bring the former Zilina centre-back to Old Trafford and will continue to monitor him in view of making an approach.
The 23-year-old was an ever-present for Inter this season and scored 4 goals in 38 Serie A appearances.
