MATCH REPORT: Elmina Sharks stuns Ahantigold in Obuasi

Elmina Sharks stunned Ashantigold at their own backyard after defeating the miners 2-1 in the match day 23 of the Ghana premier League.

Sharks who have been on a good run of form opened the scoring from the spot through Eric Osei after Ashantigold had missed a penalty through Richard Ocran.

The debutants then doubled the lead ten minutes after the opener when Tweneboah Benjamin met a cross from the right. The miners pulled one back after a beautiful dummy by man of the match Prince Owusu.

Coach C.K Akunor side began the game on an impressive note winning a penalty in the seventh minute but the opportunity was flapped when Richard Ocran missed from the spot.

The Aboakese continued to press in search of the opener but were caught at the back after a poor tackle by Ocran fouling Tweneboah Benjamin.

Eric Owusu showed up  and expertly converted the penalty even though goalkeeper George Owu moved to the direction of the ball.

Sharks looked buoyed by the lead dictating the pace of the game and ten minutes after the opener right winger Felix put in a cross that was sharply met by Benjamin Tweneboah.

The game went in to the break with the side from Central Region up by two goals. Sharks had to remain resolute in defensive as Ashantigold came into the second half much stronger in search of a consolation.

With fifteen minutes to end the game, skillful winger Prince Owusu dummied the defender of Sharks and had a left shot fly pass Elmina Sharks goal keeper Richard Arthur.

 

Elmina Sharks have now recorded two away wins on the road ending Coach C.K Akunor’s winning run in the second round.
