Kumasi Asante Kotoko were frustrated by Bechem United in an uninspiring clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday. The game ended null at the halfway stage with the Bechem defence triumphing over a timid Kotoko attack on numerous occasions, denying them the opportunity to go to the top of the table.
Dauda Mohammed returned to the starting XI after missing out last weekend because of national assignment.
The Porcupine Warriors were denied the opener in the 15th minute when goalie, Prince Asempa raced off his line to save a tricky situation.
Goalie Asempa who displayed cat-like reflexes in the first half sustained a minor injury after saving a corner kick in the 27th minute. However, he returned onto the pitch and was a barrier till the end of the first half.
Kotoko continued to dominate the game after recess with two Bechem United players; Solomon Mensah and Hans Kwofie attracting yellow cards.
The crossbar denied Kotoko the opener in the 65th minute when, Osei Agyemang connected with a powerful header.
However, Kotoko forward Bennett Ofori missed the best chance of the match in the 81st minute as he failed to connect home a cross from Gyamfi into an empty net.
Five minutes of time was added-on but Bechem United deployed time wasting tactics to frustrate their hosts.
Kotoko are on 32 points, 10 points better than Bechem United.
