Medeama SC goalie Yaw Ansah was the hero as his side as they recorded a 7-6 penalty shootout win over Fijai United in the MTN FA Cup on Sunday.
The teams settled for a 1-1 draw with striker Latif Salifu scoring à last-gasp equalizer for the visitors at the Essipong stadium in Sekondi in normal time.
Fijai took a well-deserved lead in the first half and appeared to be cruising to a famous victory against the Premier League side.
However, former Ghana Under-20 star Latif Salifu scored from a free header to send the game into a penalty shootout.
The two teams converted their first five kicks each before defender Swap Mohammed squandered his chance to give United the edge but goalkeeper Yaw Ansah kept Medeama in thé competition by saving the kicks and send them into the last 32.
