MATCH REPORT: Sharks strengthen chances of Premier League stay with 1-0 win over Kotoko

Published on: 30 August 2017

Elmina Sharks strengthen their chances for a stay in the Ghana Premier League after a 1-0 win over Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Striker Joseph Mensah scored in the 62nd minute to consolidate victory for the home side. Sharks produced one of the best performance of the season after dominating the two sets of halves with dominating displays to pick all points.

The newcomers had struggled in the season but with change in technical direction, the club has won five of the last six games, moving them away from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, the defeat for Kotoko means their chances of staging a strong comeback for the League title has drained down.

Kotoko are now 9 points away from leaders Aduana Stars with just four games to go.

The win has all but sealed Sharks stay in the topflight after a complicated debut campaign.
