Inter striker Mauro Icardi has committed his future to the club after signing a new long-term contract will keep him wearing Nerazzurri colours for the next five years.

Icardi had been linked with various moves away from Inter during the summer, most notably to Arsenal, but he will now remain at the San Siro until 2021.

The 23-year-old joined the club from Sampdoria in 2013 and was named captain two years later when he was still one of the youngest members of the squad.

Icardi scored 38 Serie A goals across the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons combined and has begun the new campaign in fine form with six league goals from his first seven appearances.

Early this week, the player's agent and wife Wanda Nara confirmed to an Italian outlet that everything was "practically done" and that the pair were "happy" with the situation.

In further comments published by Infobae, Nara , former wife of ex-Barcelona forward Maxi Lopez, revealed that the release clause in the new deal is set at €110m.

"I've earned Mauro much more money. We've put in clauses and new conditions," she said.

"If a club want to buy him, they'll have to pay the clause of €110m. We adjusted the contract and extended it for five years, which is the maximum possible."
