The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua and a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports, Hon. Isaac Asiamah has jabbed the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, describing him as unprofessional and ignorant of his responsibilities, for describing the Ghana Premier League as unattractive insisting he must be fired.

According to the Member of Parliament of Atwima Mponua, the role of the Sports Minister must compliment the efforts of the Ghana Football Association to move the game forward not to make it appear bad.

The Sports Minister in an interview with Accra based Asempa FM, said the Ghana Premier League is not attractive due to the lack of sponsorship.

Both the Premier League Board and the Ghana Football Association issued a statement to rubbish statement the minister made concerning the league.

"I have listened to the tape and that statement shouldn't have come from the sector minister. If we are serious as a country, the President of the country should have fired him right after those comments.” Asiamah told Kumasi based Silva FM in an interview.

"We have various sporting disciplines in the country and the Minister is supposed to promote all. So if he can't lead the promotion, why must he degrade the product? Asiamah quizzed.

"If indeed the Ghana Premier League is unattractive as he is saying, what has he done as a sports minister to turn things around for the league to be attractive? That should be his headache and not.

"Merely saying the league is unattractive is a display of total incompetence and ignorance of his role as a Sports Minister," he added.
