Missed penalties will haunt Kotoko in Congo - Polo

Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo believes Asante Kotoko's Africa campaign could be ruined by the missed penalties in the first leg when they travel to Brazzaville next week to face CARA for the CAF Confederation Cup return trip.

Referee Issah Sy awarded the Porcupine Warriors four penalties but squandered three before Yakubu Mohammed converted a late penalty to power the Reds to victory on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

But the former Ghanaian international is of the view the missed opportunities can haunt the FA Cup champions in the second league.

''Kotoko won't have it easy in Congo. I doubt if they'll be able to handle the home support Cara will get,'' Polo told Happy FM.

''Missing three penalty kicks clearly shows the technical problem Kotoko is facing. Kotoko's performance was nothing to write home about.

''Coach should concentrate more on training players on how to score goals because it's a major problem in our football in Ghana.

''Kotoko will be intimidated in Congo. They had the opportunities here and they wasted it. Kotoko have to score real goals there. They won't be awarded four penalties.''
