Molby tells Liverpool to ditch Solanke loan plans

Liverpool hero Jan Molby is delighted to see Dominic Solanke earn a start this week.

The striker made his full Premier League debut for victory over Stoke City.

Molby wrote for the Liverpool Echo: "Dominic Solanke probably should have scored at Stoke but he got himself some very valuable minutes on his first Premier League start.

"It was a slight surprise to see him start the game but it's a little indication of what the club and Jurgen think of him. Klopp thinks he's not a million miles away and that in itself is a good thing.

"As I've said before the boy just needs a goal and then he can go to the next level hopefully.

"There was some talk of sending him out on loan but if you're that close and the club think that highly of you I don't see the need. It appears that he's got himself a little bit closer to the first team so I think getting minutes playing for Liverpool from time to time are more valuable.

"Not that there wouldn't be clubs, even in the Premier League or certainly the Championship, who wouldn't want to take him.

"He looks like a goalscorer in the making so people will think 'I wouldn't mind having him for six months'."
