MTN FA Cup: Elmina Sharks edge regional rivals Ebusua Dwarfs via penalty shootout

Published on: 23 April 2017

Elmina Sharks may have provided a bit of respite to their owner, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom after edging regional rivals Ebusua Dwarfs 3-0 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Cape Coast on Sunday. Their owner lost a portion of his hotel after a blaze razed down the facility a day before but his side's victory is sure to bring a smile on his face.

Dwarfs were the better side in the opening stages of the game and capitalised on their dominance in the 3rd minutes when referee Cecil Fleischer awarded them a penalty, which was duly converted by defender Christopher Bonney to give his side the lead.

Elmina Sharks levelled the scoreline late in the game by Richard Atika to force the game into the penalty shootout.

Elmina Sharks went on to win the tie 3-0 in the penalty shootout to advance to the Round of 32 stage.
