Former MTN FA Cup winners, Nania FC, were last Saturday eliminated from this year’s edition at the preliminary stage by Uncle 'T' United FC in a 5-3 penalty shootout win. After a barren draw in regulation time, the game proceeded to spot kicks which led to Uncle 'T' United FC causing Nania an upset at their own backyard. The preliminary stage also saw last year’s losing finalists, Okwawu United exiting the competition after Danbort FC produced a 2-1 win at the Nungua Town Park. Division one side, Vision FC qualified with a 2-0 over Charity Stars, former top flight side, Sekondi Hasaacas were beaten 2-1 by Nzema Kotoko while Sporting Mirren defeated Madina Republicans 2-1. Techiman City lost 1-0 to W. Nea Salamina at home, King Faisal FC produced a 3-1 vistory over Buffalo FC, Okyeman Planners beat Blue Skies FC 2-1, Real Tamale United FC thrash Sankara National FC 4-0 and Utrecht Academy walloped STK Stars FC 7-0. In other matches, Achiken FC beat Subri Royal FC 5-2, Area 51 FC win 5-2 on penalties against All Stars FC, Nyakrom Youth FC lost 2-0 to Proud United, Bolga Soccer Stars FC narrowly beat Navrongo FC 1-0, Samartex travelling to win 4-3 on penalties over Juaboso All Stars FC and Effutu Great Kingdy FC lose 3-0 to Unistar Academy. Dolphins FC thrash Enchi All Stars FC 5-0, Eleven Wonders FC produced a 7-1 victory over Paga Japan Stars, Stars FC lost 1-0 to NADM FC, Fetteh Youngsters beat Metro Youth FC 5-4, Akosombo FC were eliminated after 4-3 penalty win over Phar Rangers while Berekum Arsenals lost 4-1 on penalties to Glory Stars away from home. There were other games in other centers with all winners qualifying for the next round of the compettion.
