Multiple candidates in line to replace Di Francesco at Roma

Roma tactician Eusebio Di Francesco is close to being sacked by the Giallorossi and there are no less than three options in contention to replace him.

The Giallorossi have not won a competitive fixture since they defeated Torino 1-0 in the opening round of the 2018/19 Serie A season and they are now 12th in the league table with five other clubs on five points after losing 2-0 to Bologna on Sunday afternoon.

According to La Repubblica, Roma’s league fixtures against regional rivals Frosinone and Lazio will be decisive in determining the future of Di Francesco at the club and Lupi president James Pallotta said that he was “disgusted” by the latest results, which was the same description he used three games before he sacked Rudi Garcia in early 2016.

Although the fans want former Juventus and Italy coach Antonio Conte at the club, Paulo Sousa, Laurent Blanc, and Vincenzo Montella are the favourites to take over.

Aside from Blanc, the other candidates have coached in Serie A previously and Montella coached Roma before in 2011, replacing Claudio Ranieri.
