Nagelsmann cools England links

Published on: 18 June 2018

Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann has played down talk of him being a target for several clubs in England this summer.

The 30-year-old has made a big impact since taking charge at Hoffenheim in October 2015 and signed a contract extension last summer which ties him to the Bundesliga club until the end of the 2020/21 season.

However, following a superb 5-2 victory at RB Leipzig on Saturday, Nagelsmann dismissed suggestions that he could be about to move on for a fresh challenge.

He told Sky Germany: "These are just rumours "I'm not annoyed by the discussions.

"I focus on myself and my team and want to make a good game, the focus is on nothing else."

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund boss Peter Stoger was wary of reading too much into a dominant 4-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen which gave his side a huge boost in their bid to ensure a top-four finish and a place in the Champions League next season.

He told the club's official website: "Nothing's been achieved yet, but this victory was very important. It was a better performance by us.

"In terms of the running we put in it was okay, we worked well off the ball and showed the necessary physicality.

"You could see that it works if everyone contributes something in all areas. Today that finally worked out across the full 90 minutes."

BVB are now 1/100 to secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga, with Leverkusen 4/5 and Hoffenheim 10/11.
