Nice Forward Hatem Ben Arfa Set for Sevilla Switch

Nice forward Hatem Ben Arfa is set to join Spanish club Sevilla on a three-year contract, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.

Ben Arfa had been the subject of intense speculation after bagging 18 goals and six assists in just 37 appearances for the Ligue 1 club last season.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona, along with French champions Paris-Saint Germain, were all rumoured to interested in the winger's services.

But Ben Arfa has opted to join the three-time Europa League winners, and will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training when his contract with Nice expires on June 30.

Ben Arfa resurrected his career with Les Aiglons after an unsuccessful few years in the Barclays Premier League.

The former Newcastle United player struggled for form and fitness during his three-and-a-half year stint on Tyneside, and was loaned out to Hull City in September 2014.

However, the 29-year-old failed to light up Humberside during an ill-fated three month spell, and was swiftly sent packing back to St. James' Park before his release on a free transfer.

Ben Arfa helped Nice achieve a fourth place finish in France's top division last term, and starred throughout the 2015/16 campaign with a number of stellar performances for the Allianz Riviera-based outfit.

The 15-times capped France international will link up with compatriot Adil Rami at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

However, Ben Arfa will not figure for Sevilla Unai Emery, with the Spanish head coach having left the Andalusian side ahead of a potential move to PSG in the coming weeks.

Since making his debut in August 2004, Ben Arfa has accrued 307 appearances across five clubs, and has scored 57 goals in that time.
