Okwahu United defied odds to kick Hasaacas out of MTN FA Cup

GN Bank division One League side Okwahu United secured a place in the quarter finals of the MTN FA Cup by beating Premier League side Sekondi Hasaacas 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Samuel Afful put the visitors ahead in the first half of the game but the Nkwakwa based side faught back in the second half and were rewarded with a penalty which was well converted by Carlos Appiah to set up the penalties. Fatau Mohammed broke Hasmal hearts after missing his kick to hand victory to Okwahu United.

This victory comes after President of Okwahu United Brian Acheampong ordered the club to withdraw from the ongoing MTN FA Cup on the back of violent attacks by Okwahu fans in their Division One League tie against King Solomon at Kwahu Praso where Okwahu lost 1-0. With Pending sanctions from the GFA Disciplinary committee, the Nkwakwa based side took a bold step to move into the last eight of the competition.

Okwahu United joins Asante Kotoko, WAFA, Elmina Sharks,Bechem, Wa All Stars, Liberty Professionals and Wa Rockets in the last eight.
