Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Aims Sly Dig at Henrikh Mkhitaryan's Controversial Dortmund Exit

Borussia Dortmund superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has questioned his former teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan's actions upon leaving for Manchester United, ESPN FC reports.

The Armenian international became Jose Mourinho's third signing at United when he completed his protracted, and at times, controversial £26.3m move from Dortmund.

There had been rumours of the 27-year-old refusing to play for Dortmund again as the club stalled on the impending transfer. The club's president Reinhard Rauball told reporters upon the completion of the deal: Things played a role or an effect that normally at a transfer don't happen.

And Aubameyang, who himself has been linked with a move away from the Signal Iduna Park, aimed a thinly veiled attack on his former teammate's behaviour in the latter stages of his Dortmund career.

"In the end, all involved have to be pleased with it, and you still have to be able to look each other in the eye.

"It's about how you do it. And a few things were done in public recently which were not okay, and which you are not necessarily able to relate to as a colleague."

The Gabon international, 27, was expected to leave Dortmund this summer after scoring 25 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances but chose to stay for another season despite interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid.

But should he leave in the near future, Aubameyang promises it will be a "smooth" transfer as opposed to Mkhitaryan's.

"Those who know me, know that I am an open and honest guy, and it will always stay like that," he told Sport Bild. "Should there be talks about a transfer one day, things will run smoothly, I promise that."

The forward also expects to fetch a handsome fee for Dortmund should he leave, with reports earlier in the summer suggesting City were prepared to pay £65m for his services.

"I don't know how much I am worth," he said. "Maybe you'll see it one day. I fear that it could also go in the direction of Higuain."
