PREVIEW: Kotoko host Dwarfs

Published on: 06 May 2016

A resurgent Kumasi Asante Kotoko will hope to build upon their morale-boosting 1-0 away victory over bitter-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak last Monday when they welcome bottom club Ebusua Dwarfs to the Baba Yara Stadium tomorrow.

The Porcupine Warriors are on a high after stunning Hearts and Coach Michael Osei will fancy his side’s chances at home against the Premier League’s whipping boys, Dwarfs, who have amassed a paltry nine points from 10 games.

Putting Dwarfs’ poor away form in perspective, they have only earned a point against Bechem United at Bechem, leaving Coach J.E. Sarpong’s boys with a herculean task to survive in Oseikrom.

However, Dwarfs, a known bogey side of Kotoko, can be encouraged by their opponents’ inconsistency this season which has seen them manage consecutive victories over Dreams FC and Liberty Professionals just once in their opening 10 games.

The depleted rear-guard of the Porcupine Warriors (Edwin Tuffour Frimpong - suspended, Ahmed Adams - national assignment, Richard Osei Agyemang – injured) can also inspire Dwarfs strikers, Bright Lukeman and Romeo Agban, to cause an upset.

A loss for Dwarfs will compound their relegation woes, while ninth-placed Kotoko with 14 points would inch closer to the top of the table in case of victory.
